Volkswagen Golf 90 TSI test Drive

Seventh Golf history, playing as always all the clubs for their complete range in engines, transmissions, sports versions, traction systems and body-some pending renewal. All under a Conservative makeover, but with very high development and technical content. Both I now see more accurate to say that golf is more expensive than rivals generalists, but less expensive than the premium.

Skeptics, come and prove ... Some people think that when you can save 20 percent in manufacturing a car is something that has to be a loss of quality, dedication, attention to detail, materials, simplification and there has to be a hopeless turning back. I think not, and I rest my case: the Golf is a clear example. There are manufacturers that talk about improvements in mechanical performance in percentages puzzling, as this new form of manufacturing in Volkswagen and other brands of the group is not more than that, improvement in industrial performance. Do not want to get into whether those savings also derive acquisition costs for the customer, but I think the Golf has had a range of access as price competitive as a continent and in this generation, although it is clear that the savings in the part of manufacturing is not divided equally between manufacturer and customer.

Finally, we set and at the controls of one of its petrol versions, the "unknown" 1.4 TSi 140 CV-although it is the same name, capacity and performance, it has nothing to do with the previous generation -, power from which, as you know, the Golf are divided into two by frame: from now on all Golf use multilink rear axle torsional axis against the less powerful.

But "we use" the Golf before going into detail with behavior or performance. And the first disappointment is when he plays explore its most familiar. There are now less actual liter boot before, and I do not understand where this new generation is larger and wider. The purchase of the month already hard pressed in their 380 liters approved and confirmed by our Technical Centre. But inside, the car gives so much of himself as always, with the disadvantage of its prominent transmission tunnel, the same thing happens to the Audi A3 and Seat Leon cousins. As modular MQB platform that well could have used a different floor for not wearing wheel drive, because it conditions the use with fifth passenger.

Second disappointment, to upload it to the scale: the promised hundred kilos, the Golf has actually removed a lot less compared to earlier TSi-also happened the same with the TDI-, but that does not mean that the Golf is millimeter and instant before any action behind the wheel looking, really, a car lighter than it really is. And third big surprise, coinciding with our test, I have a chance to get on a Golf with a configuration of equipment much more "standard" than our gasoline, are DCC adaptive suspension that equipped our unit. And how would that Golf! I speak specifically of the 2.0 TDi 150 hp benchmark to analyze the interest of TSi.
